Last fall we asked you to rally around a bill, H.R. 1623, International Megan’s Law. The bill would expand the protection of Megan’s Law, mandating reporting requirements for convicted  and registered sex offenders against minors to engage in international travel, and preventing entry into the U.S. by any foreign sex offender against a minor. 

 

Over 27,000 Covenant House supporters signing the petition both online and through the mail.   And our voices were heard!

 

On Wednesday April 28, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs held a mark-up on H.R.1623/H.R.5138, International Megan’s Law, and with unanimous support, the bill was ordered to be reported out of Committee.  

 

Now, we urgently need your help again. We need to move International Megan’s Law to the Floor for a vote by the end of July. Time is of the essence with the impending summer recess and fall campaigns on the horizon. Please don’t let this legislation lose the momentum we’ve created together.
