Covenant House Georgia
Helping Homeless Kids in Atlanta
1559 Johnson Road
Atlanta, GA 30318
Covenant House Georgia is the only program of its kind in Georgia serving homeless kids every night between midnight and 8:00 AM. Five nights a week, our Outreach Van visits some of the most distressed neighborhoods of Atlanta, seeking out sexually exploited youth, drug dealers, and gang members in the hopes of saving a life.
Individualized case management is important to the well-being of our kids. Staff members work with each youth to meet his or her individual goals and to provide a continuum of care until those goals are met. Educational assistance includes General Equivalency Diploma and academic tutoring as well as vocational and life-skills workshops. Youth receive crisis counseling and intervention, health care services, and the opportunity to participate in peer leadership groups. Staff participate in advocacy and community development efforts and promote family reunification when appropriate.
Since opening the Center on Broad Street in 2006, more than 10,000 young people have walked through the doors looking for assistance with shelter, food, clothing, education, and employment. Every day young men and women have come here in search of crisis counseling, employment, a GED diploma, or a safe place to sleep.
Our Outreach program is the only program in Georgia that sees between 50-200 kids per month.
