Our crisis counselors utilize a database of more than 30,000 social service and child welfare agencies so callers can be connected with immediate assistance.
365 days a year, help is always available
There are many reasons why young people and their caregivers dial our NINELINE (1-800-999-9999) for crisis counseling.
Some call from the streets urgently seeking immediate help; others call from home asking for intervention in situations where there is physical, emotional, or sexual abuse; and many others reach out to NINELINE because they are severely depressed and contemplating suicide.
Since 1987, the Covenant House NINELINE has been helping young people in need gain immediate access to our crisis and counseling services. NINELINE is also a valuable resource for parents seeking guidance about difficult family situations, or for those desperately trying to locate a runaway child.
Our crisis counselors utilize a database of more than 30,000 social service and child welfare agencies so callers can be connected with immediate assistance - from whichever state or territory a call originates. We answer thousands of phone calls every year from kids, parents, and caregivers dealing with serious problems like abuse, running away, and suicide.
NINELINE (1-800-999-9999) is toll-free, a confidential crisis hotline that operates 365 days a year, 4PM-8PM EST. Acercatel (01-800-110-1010), our telephone hotline in Mexico, is also available to homeless kids struggling to survive.
NINELINE is also available on the Internet at www.NINELINE.org. Here, young people can submit questions via e-mail or participate in forum conversations monitored by NINELINE counselors.
