Meet Margaret

Margaret is the oldest of four children. Her father died when she was only nine years old. Due to the disabling disease of her mother, Margaret and her brothers and sisters were sent to live with relatives.

Margaret kept running away, living with friends and on the streets. She was eventually placed in foster care and had six placements within three years. At 18 years of age, Margaret became involved in prostitution. It was on the streets of Hollywood that she was initially engaged by Covenant House California’s Van Outreach staff. Initially, Margaret was extremely depressed and struggled with her adjustment to Covenant House’s structure. With staff support and her own determination, Margaret learned to follow through on daily responsibilities.

Margaret entered a training program at a local Film Production Studio and was subsequently hired full-time, a job she has held for over two years. She now lives in her own apartment and visits frequently with her brothers and sister. While working full-time, she is enrolled in her second year at a Community College and maintains contact with Covenant House staff. Covenant House California
