Nineline Hotline
The Covenant House NINELINE makes it possible for young people throughout the United States and its territories to gain immediate access to Covenant House crisis and counseling services.
Introduced in 1987, the Covenant House Nineline (1-800-999-9999) is a free, confidential crisis hotline that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Covenant House NINELINE also is available on the Internet at www.NINELINE.org where young people can submit questions via e-mail or participate in forums monitored by NINELINE counselors.
The young people and their care-givers who call Covenant House NINELINE do so for any number of tragic reasons: some young people call from the streets seeking urgent and immediate help; other young people call from home seeking intervention in situations where there is physical, emotional, or sexual abuse; many times a young person calls because he/she is contemplating suicide. In addition to providing critical help to young people in need, the Covenant House NINELINE also is a resource for parents seeking guidance about difficult family situations or for those looking for a runaway child.
Covenant House NINELINE counselors utilize a database of more than 30,000 social service and child welfare agencies so callers can be connected with immediate assistance no matter the state or territory from which a call originates.
