Celebrating Transformation in Nicaragua
For 21 years, Casa Alianza Nicaragua — Covenant House Nicaragua — has witnessed amazing transformations in the lives of the young people in our care, through our prevention and recovery programs.
More than 20,000 children and teens, including teen mothers, have received shelter, warm meals, and physical and mental health care at Casa Alianza. Our holistic model of attention and life planning helps youth overcome the trauma and violence of their pasts while supporting their dreams for the future.
Over the years, more than 4,000 Casa Alianza youth have acquired education, vocational instruction, and/or on-the-job training skills to prepare them for a secure and independent adulthood. And 76 of our youth have successfully set up their own small businesses.
Unconditional love, solidarity, commitment, humanism, and professionalism are essential values that have sustained our mission. Faithful to these values, we have safely reunited more than 6,000 youth with their families. They are now active citizens in our society.
Since 2018, sociopolitical turmoil in Nicaragua has brought new challenges. Casa Alianza staff members have had to overcome numerous difficulties. Yet, our commitment, responsibility, and resilience have only grown stronger. Casa Alianza remains a beacon of hope for Nicaraguan youth, and our commitment to protect, advocate, and care for them is as strong now as when we first opened our doors in 1998.
We thank each of the individual and corporate partners who throughout these 21 years have accompanied us and joined us in our efforts to support thousands of children, teens, and their families as they transform their dreams into reality.
The doors of Casa Alianza Nicaragua are still open, and we remain inspired and motivated by the authentic values that drove this great project to fruition more than two decades ago.
