Contact Us and FAQ

We know that you may have some questions about Covenant House and we do our best to answer each and every one.  Below we've included the questions and answers to our most frequently asked questions.  If your question is not answered below, please contact our team at 1-800-388-8888 or info@covenanthouse.org.

Does the CARES Act legislation affect donations to Covenant House?

Yes! Thanks to the CARES Act a larger portion of your 2020 charitable giving can potentially be deducted from your 2020 tax liability. This means you can give more to help homeless youth and Covenent House while potentially lowering your taxes next year. Please give as generously as you can right now and take advantage of this unique opportunity, provided by Congress, to help address those most affected by COVID-19 and to help stop the spread!

I am homeless. How do I get help?

Call 1-800-388-3888 Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4pm EST or  view our locations to find the Covenant House closest to you.

What is Covenant House’s mission?

  • Our mission and commitment is to serve children and youth facing homelessness and human trafficking with absolute respect and unconditional love. Covenant House’s high-quality programs and services provide young people with a bridge from homelessness to hope.
  • For more than four decades, Covenant House has helped more than 1.5 million children and youth transform their lives across North and Central America. Opened as a drop-in center in New York City in 1972, Covenant House is now a movement: the largest charity in the Americas dedicated to helping children and youth find safety, shelter, and opportunity. We reach nearly 74,000 youth in 31 cities across six countries annually.
  • Covenant House International, as the central entity, maintains ultimate responsibility for overall strategy, policy, and programming across all our Covenant House sites. Our union, framed by our international reach and impact, positions us to advocate with and for young people. We are a bridge from homelessness to hope, built on a diverse array of programs, our trauma-informed practice models of resilience and positive youth development, and our advocacy for public policies that emphasize justice, safety, and opportunity for children and youth.
  • In addition to food, shelter, and clothing, Covenant House offers street outreach, medical care, education and job-readiness programs, workforce development, substance-use treatment and prevention, civil legal aid services, mother/child programs, transitional and supportive apartment-living programs, and life-skills training.

Is my donation tax deductible?

All contributions to Covenant House are tax-deductible upon receipt of payment. You will receive a receipt for your donation for the full amount of your contribution that is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Once I have made a gift, how can I make changes to my account?

Please call 1-800-388-3888 Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4pm EST or email info@covenanthouse.org

I talked to one of your representatives on the street and was given the opportunity to donate through a tablet. Is this a secure way to make a donation?

Covenant House is always seeking new monthly donors to join our community. Our face-to-face fundraising partners accept donations on the spot through tablets. This is a convenient and secure mobile giving method that helps us receive your urgently needed contribution as soon as possible. These tablets can accept both credit card and bank donations and help reduce administrative costs; our representatives never accept cash. Fundraisers can be identified by their bright yelow vest with the Covenant House logo. If you meet one of our representatives, please feel free to say hello and inquire about the device and our programs.

Can donors make gifts of stock or other non-cash gifts?

Yes, donors wishing to make stock, noncash gifts or estate gifts should contact info@coventhouse.org or call 1-800-388-3888 Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4pm EST.
