“I grew up in the Bronx with my mother, who is an alcoholic. A few months ago, my mom chose her boyfriend over me, and asked me to leave the house. I moved around a lot, and stayed at different friends’ houses for awhile, but eventually I had nowhere left to go. A friend told me about Covenant House, and I came here right away. In just one month, I’ve already graduated from the job readiness program and have started applying for jobs. My goal is to become a corrections officer and to move into Rights of Passage (ROP), Covenant House’s transitional living program.
