Requirements

Exceptional college juniors, seniors, and graduate students are invited to apply
and must have a current minimum GPA of 3.0. There is no requirement relating
to course of academic study, and we welcome applicants of all backgrounds to
apply.

Program Dates & Hours

Dates

Our application window for the 2020 program is from February 3rd, 2020 until March 31st, 2020.

2020 Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis, and we will no longer accept
applications once all openings are filled.

The program will begin June 2nd,  and end on August 7th, 2020.

How to Apply

Admission works on a rolling basis, and we will accept high-quality applicants
throughout the submission window. Please see the following important dates for
the summer 2020 program:

Application Window Opens:  February 3rd, 2020
Application Window Closes:  March 31st, 2020

To submit your application, please e-mail the following documents to internship@covenanthouse.org:

  • Resume
  • 500 -1,000 word essay answering “What motivated you to apply to Covenant House
    and how
you feel that this internship opportunity will contribute to your career
    goals?”

The application process consists of the following steps:

Pre-Screening

All applicants must submit BOTH required documents (resume and essay) before being considered eligible for admissions review.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

First Review

All completed applications will undergo an initial review by the admissions committee, who will determine which applicants will be offered an interview.

The Interview

All applicants who reach the interview stage will be given several potential interview dates and times, as well as an in-person or phone interview option.

Background Check

A background check will be conducted on each selected candidate before acceptance to the program. Selected candidates will be required to submit two professional reference letters.

Notification of Acceptance

Due to the high volume of applications, only accepted applicants and those who
make it to the interview stage will be informed of the admission committee’s
decision. At this stage, accepted applicants will be offered a position for the
summer and will begin to coordinate scheduling and preparation materials.

Please note that admission to the summer internship program is competitive.
The hands-on experience that we offer draws high levels of interest, and as
much as we would like to, we simply cannot accommodate every applicant.

All applications are given equal rigor in the review process and are subject to the
same standards of admission.
