Gopuff Partnership Brings Necessities and Opportunities to Covenant House Youth
Just as Gopuff hit its stride in the rapidly expanding instant commerce space, they also took a moment to focus time and resources on advancing their partnership with Covenant House across the U.S. In short, Gopuff recognizes the needs of our young people in the cities where they operate, and has committed to not leaving them behind.
In the first half of 2022, Gopuff has donated over $48,000 of in-kind products to Covenant House sites. In New York City, Gopuff hired 10 Covenant House New York residents to work in their stores.
Rhonda Whitley, Employment Services Manager at Covenant House New York said, “Gopuff has a real sense of how our program operates and how they can help our young people thrive in a competitive industry. We are grateful for their openness and the opportunity they are giving our residents.”
Just last month, Gopuff initiated a Pride-focused cause marketing campaign to raise awareness and funds for youth experiencing homelessness who identify as LGBTQ+. Youth who identify as LGBTQ+ have a 120% higher risk of experiencing homelessness compared to their straight and cisgender peers. The Gopuff campaign raised $15,000 for Covenant House to support these individuals.
“Gopuff is committed to using our services to make a positive impact in our local communities,” said Yakir Gola, co-founder and co-CEO of Gopuff. “That’s why we’re especially proud to stand with Covenant House and hope to make life a little easier for those in need.”
“Covenant House is dedicated to the important mission of helping unhoused and at-risk youth across the U.S.,” added Rafael Ilishayev, co-founder and co-CEO of Gopuff. “Gopuff’s reason for being is meeting people’s everyday needs, and we’re grateful to be able to leverage our platform to advance Covenant House’s crucial social mission.”
Thank you, Yakir and Rafael, and thanks to the entire Gopuff community of employees and consumers who are supporting young people overcoming homelessness at Covenant House. It is an honor to be included in your expansion goals.
