Help Americans access more affordable housing

This surge in housing prices has been nothing short of astonishing. In many major metro areas, housing costs have nearly doubled in a little over a decade, putting home ownership beyond the reach of many Americans. And relentlessly rising rent costs are contributing to increased homelessness, especially among our nation’s youth.

Tell Congress to prioritize the creation of 7.3 million rental properties to make sure low-income Americans have a place to live. Sign now to advocate for affordable housing legislation!

Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives

Last month, President Biden and Vice President Harris urged Congress to pass legislation to ensure all Americans can live in a safe, affordable home.

This is a great first step — but it isn’t nearly enough to address the severity of this housing crisis. Today, I urge you to work together to create and support legislation to offer more affordable housing nationwide. We need to create 7.3 million rental properties quickly so that anyone trying to make it on limited income can be guaranteed a home.

This April, the Supreme Court will decide if local governments can make it a crime to live outside and unsheltered. It is unconscionable that such laws could soon exist… and it’s even more critical that new laws like the Housing for All Act pass, providing housing and rental assistance to homeless youth!

With your help, we can keep millions of Americans from experiencing homelessness, and we can help homeless youth break the cycle of homelessness for good. This is a tragedy citizens in all states are now facing, and it’s an issue that all lawmakers can work together on to find an expedient solution.

Congress must act now to address the affordable housing crisis, because we need real solutions for a problem that will only grow worse if a legislative solution isn’t found. Thank you for your time, consideration and efforts to address the affordable housing crisis our country is now facing.
