Strides for Pride: Move with Purpose This June

Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and celebrated for who they are. But for too many LGBTQ+ youth, coming out can come at a devastating cost — losing the support of family, community, and even a place to call home.

At Covenant House, we believe that coming out should never mean getting kicked out.

This Pride Month, you can show up in a powerful way by joining Strides for Pride, our weeklong movement challenge supporting LGBTQ+ youth overcoming homelessness.

What is Strides for Pride?

Strides for Pride is a weeklong challenge where you log 40 minutes of activity each day — running, walking, biking, or any movement you enjoy — and raise $120 or more to support LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness at Covenant House.

Why 40 Minutes? Why $120?

Every part of Strides for Pride is rooted in awareness and impact:

  • The 40 minutes of daily activity represents the nearly 40% of youth experiencing homelessness who identify as LGBTQ+.

  • The $120 fundraising goal reflects that LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBGQ+ peers.

Together, your movement and fundraising shine a light on the reality these young people face — and help change it, all while doing your own body and soul some good, too.

How Does Strides for Pride Help Support LGBTQ+ Youth?

Strides for Pride is designed to turn your movement into meaningful action. From June 22-28, 2026, you can log your daily activity knowing your participation helps Covenant House provide safe shelter and critical support for unhoused LGBTQ+ youth across North and Central America.

Strides for Pride works like a walkathon or charity race, but instead of taking place in a single day, it unfolds over a full week, so you can participate from anywhere in the world. Funds raised support Covenant House programs that provide food, shelter, clothing, health care, education, legal aid, and more for unhoused youth.
