Take Action for Homeless Youth this November
Over 4 million young people experience a form of homelessness each year. Every November, during Youth Homelessness Awareness Month, Covenant House brings together our global community to confront this crisis head-on.
The Crisis We Face
Change starts by facing the truth about youth homelessness: If we do nothing, youth homelessness will triple over the next 10 years. We cannot let that happen; the cost of doing nothing is too high. That’s why this November, we’re asking you to join our community, take action, and help reverse and end youth homelessness.
Here’s How You Can Take Action:
-
We can halve youth homelessness over the next 10 years with your help. Be a part of the movement to end youth homelessness and commit to taking meaningful action today.
-
Join us for our kickoff rally in Times Square to demand housing and to demand change. Backed by powerful performances and youth-led moments, our rally will challenge you to act boldly, urgently, and with purpose.
-
Give up your bed for one night to raise funds and awareness and ensure that youth facing homelessness can sleep safely at Covenant House.
-
Connect with your local Covenant House to see how you can take action in your community.
-
Learn how your company or group can get involved to drive change through fundraising challenges and volunteer opportunities.
Why This Work Matters
We're at a tipping point. Young people experiencing homelessness often are escaping abuse, family rejection or trafficking, and most have nowhere safe to turn. If we don’t take courageous action now, the youth homelessness crisis will get worse over the next 10 years, not better.
Covenant House believes the crisis of youth homelessness is preventable, and we have a plan to cut in half the number of young people facing homelessness by 2035.
Covenant House provides young people facing homelessness with safe housing and wraparound services that help them heal from the trauma and instability of homelessness. Our services respond to their needs for mental health support, education, career training, medical care, and, most importantly, a safe, stable, place where they can advance their life plans.
To truly leave homelessness behind, young people need housing they can afford. Covenant House is increasingly seeking to make affordable-for-youth housing available to young people exiting homelessness. Here, youth can live into their independence and still rely on our services as they need them, all while they work toward their best future.
With the support of local communities, partners, advocates, and countless individuals, we can reverse the crisis. You can be a part of the movement that ends youth homelessness. It can all start with what you do this November.
