We Help Youth Facing Homelessness in New York City 

Youth Shelter and Housing  

Covenant House New York offers four housing programs for young people who are facing homelessness or housing instability in New York City.  

• Crisis Shelter: Short-term shelter providing youth with a meal, shower, clean clothes, and a safe place to sleep. We work with each young person to create a personalized plan to help them reach their goals.
• Rights of Passage: Our transitional housing program offers longer-term housing and support to help youth prepare for and transition to independent living.
• Mother & Child Programs: Providing shelter and support for young mothers and their babies. Young parents can also access free medical and childcare, parenting support and education.
• Permanent Housing: Our Family Covenant and Rapid Re-Housing programs provide youth with access to permanent supportive housing placements.

Covenant House New York is a safe space. Our team members treat our young people with absolute respect and unconditional love regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.  

Our Programs and Services  

Beyond shelter, we offer comprehensive programs and services to meet the immediate and long-term needs of youth experiencing homelessness. 

• Our on-site clinic provides access to free medical and mental health services.
• Young people can access short-term emergency care through CHNY’s outreach program and drop-in services.
• Our education and workforce development program, CovWorks, offers job training, help finding and securing work, and overall support to help young people build sustainable careers on their path to independence.

Our Services and Programs Are Always Free  

There is no cost to stay at Covenant House New York or access our services. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for youth to get the support they need.
