Youth Shelter and Housing
Our St. Louis youth shelter offers two types of housing. Both programs are designed to meet immediate needs for safety, food, and shelter, and offer support services to move from homelessness to an independent, productive life.
- Genesis Shelter Program: This is our short-term, emergency shelter. Youth have a private bedroom and are provided food, clothing, personal items, communal areas and individualized case management for 60 to 90 days.
- Transitional Housing: We provide young people with apartment-style housing for up to two years in our Transitional Living Program in addition to the services offered through the Genesis Program. This gives them a stable environment to learn life skills for sustainable independence.
Our Shelters are Safe Spaces
Covenant House Missouri is a safe space. We make sure all youth feel welcome and safe regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Our staff are caring professionals who treat our young people with absolute respect and unconditional love. No questions asked.
Programs & Services
Beyond shelter, we offer wraparound services for unhoused youth. Our programs are designed to prepare young people for successful adulthood.
- Health and Wellness: We provide on-site medical and mental health services. This includes individual, group and family therapy, wellness checks and testing, psychiatric telehealth and recreational activities.
- Education and Employment: We help young people reach educational and career goals by working with support specialists to create personalized plans.
- Outreach & Drop-in Center: Our street outreach team provides care packages to homeless youth in the St. Louis area. CHMO also has a drop-in center where young people can shower, do laundry, charge phones, eat and access support services.
- Life Skills Training and Case Management: Our case managers work with youth to build stability and success through individualized plans and consistent support. We also offer classes like financial literacy and Connections to Success that teach youth the skills they need to be independent.
- Youth Store: The Cov Closet is stocked with free clothing, hygiene products, school and art supplies, sports equipment and household items.
- Other services include transportation assistance, government administrative process support, recreational areas, and community experiences such as free Muny shows and Cardinals tickets.
All Our Services and Programs Are Free
There are no fees or costs to access services or shelter from Covenant House Missouri. Our goal is simply to provide a safe and supportive environment for homeless youth to get back on their feet.
